HOW THEY ARE MADE
A whole lot of TLC goes into each pixie and mermaid. Everyone wants to know how long they take. The answer is about a week because I work in stages. The bodies, arms, and legs are made from scratch by cutting and sanding wooden dowels. The heads are added on and the arms and legs and cords are assembled with metal rods and jump rings. They are painted and cemented and left for at least six to twelve hours for drying. Faces are painted next, then pixies are dressed, and mermaids tails are stitched.
Hair and wings are last to glued and stitched, and finally, a label with story is fastened on.
After that, it's all a mater of pixie dust. Because every one must sparkle!
